Working together on a durable and reliable supply chain.
Recently, Capgemini and other organisations have published studies about the present status of the logistic outsourcing business. This study, based on an questionnaire completed by 1644 logistics managers from all continents, gave the following conclusions: That 98% of managers find green supply chain initiatives essential for future business success. However the majority is not prepared to invest in this "greenifying" of the supply chain! Based upon durability and reliability, strong relationships between parties will grow, partly due to the integrated systems and services. By building solid relationships with logistic suppliers (3PS's) companies can realise measurable cost savings, shorter cycle times, better service and a general improvement in efficiency. Though the study showed that 3PS's and their customers agree that costs involved in these safer integrated, environmentally friendly supply chains should be shared, the logistic managers expect that the costs will eventually be paid by the customer.
