Oss establishes logistics platform.
Oss City Council works to make Oss a more prominent logistics hub. To realize this ambition, this Noord-Brabant municipality recently established its own Logistics Platform whose participants, entrepreneurs and Council, intend to take better advantage of the logistics opportunities available. Logistics Platform initiators anticipate drastic increases in transport flows in the coming ten years: road haulage by 70 percent, inland shipping by 67 percent and goods transport by rail by 86 percent. Oss envisages huge opportunities for logistics activities as a result of this growth, which it owes to its location: central to such economic concentrations as Randstad, Vlaamse Ruit and Ruhr Area. Road, waterway and rail networks around Oss are therefore being upgraded.
VSL SiloLogistics is one of the participants in the Logistics Platform Oss (LPOss). It is joined by Den Hartogh Logistics, DHL, H&S Foodtrans, ITC, Ceva Logistics, ND Logistics, De Osse Overslagcentrale, Vice Versa, Vos Logistics, and Oss City Council. This year's LPOss chairman is Den Hartogh Logistics CEO Gerard van der Kroon. The platform will shortly define a number of ambition projects. Projects designed to differentiate Oss as logistics hub, and give an impulse to new activities in logistics. The platform will also actively lobby for the partners with city councils, provincial and national authorities, interest groups such as Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN), and subsidy providers such as EU Five Star Region. Platform initiators stress that all aspects of logistics policy will be addressed.
