More acquisitions in transport and logistics.
The number of mergers and acquisitions in the global transport and logistics sector will rise this year against 2009. That year saw a dramatic drop. This was reported in a recent study by accountant and consultancy firm KPMG. The number of transactions decreased in 2009 by 17 percent and overall value of acquisitions by 63 percent. KPMG consultant Edwin van der Stam concludes that small and medium size easy to integrate enterprises in particular, are in demand again.
These are mainly businesses that are on the brink or cannot survive as a stand-alone. And they number quite a few as a result of the crisis. 'An enterprise will start putting out feelers, as will advisers employed by banks, parties that do not benefit from a liquidation', thus Van der Stam. The mergers and acquisitions market in the sector recovered in Asia in 2009. The North America, Europe and Middle East regions are expected to show some recovery.
