Marine transportation becomes more & more interesting
Last Autumn Transfennica started with a service between Zeebrugge (B) & Bilbao (ES). The shipping company Transfennica introduced this alternative in order to remove HGV's from the congested motorways in France. At the moment there are 3 departures in both directions per week, the ships have a capacity equal to 108 trailers and the journey takes only 38 hours. 100.000 HGVs per year are expected to be transported in this way. This week the "legal" predecessor of VSL SiloLogistics, Vos Logistics made known that it has also become a customer of Transfennica. Transfennica hopes that more companies will choose for marine transport. Director Michael van der Heuvel says: "It is competitive, cleaner ant it allows customers to save costs on their present business.
