High energy costs can be reduced in company halls
The energy usage in halls in the Netherlands can be reduced drastically. Energy saving measures can give up to an annual reduction from 3.9 to 4.8 PetaJoule per year. Conservative estimates demonstrate that savings can be at least 80 million euro per year. Recently completed projects have shown reductions in exploitation costs of at least 30% per hall per year. Obviously there is also a substantial reduction in the CO2 emissions: 157-185 Kton CO2 for existing halls and 62 to 84 Kton for modern halls. This information has been taken from a study by SenterNovem into the positive effects of "quickscan" on such halls. From the evaluation in the Netherlands it is clear that no two halls are the same as far as age, size, function and users are concerned. A standard solution is therefore not available. That does not mean that there are no solutions available for energy efficient heating, lighting and ventilation. SenterNovem prepared a packet of the most effective energy saving measures for primarily the shell and the installations within the hall. For more information: www.bedrijfshallen.org.
