First anniversary of on-site INEOS-VSL cooperation.
One year ago, on 1 October, VSL SiloLogistics started its logistics operation at INEOS in Lillo. One day before this anniversary, Site Manager Leo van Overeem is looking back, for this News Letter, to the first 365 days of on-site logistic services. 'We had a "running" start: on Friday we were still at the sidelines, but on Monday we worked at full capacity. The first three months we were still finding our feet. During this period we focused mainly on safety and quality with operational activities obviously going on, as we were already going full steam ahead!'
'From early 2010 onward we were getting into the swing of things. We grew into our "performance", certainly after a few personnel changes, technical updates for the machines, learning the specifics of the machines, and training all operators. This is an ongoing process obviously, because where things are good they can always be better. We monitor our performance via a KPI model (Key Performance Indicators) keeping track of performance levels of a range of activities. Once a month, monitoring results are reviewed with the customer and evaluated by INEOS. This gives us a monthly basis to help us implement further improvements. And there is always room for improvement; for instance, we are now working on fine-tuning the operational processes to prevent complaints from INEOS customers.'
'The cooperation between INEOS and VSL in Lillo is based on mutual growth and development. Jointly we develop projects designed to identify and implement improvements in the operational processes, in the cooperation and in terms of efficiency. As a team we can be proud of how VSL developed in Lillo in this first year. Every day we as VSL demonstrate that through optimization of our processes we keep growing in our service and performances. And we are convinced we can keep growing in these areas, which is indeed the challenge and task set for the coming period.'
