Coming soon: Wonder-Beads for washing machines in the silo's of VSL?
In England the company Xeros is expecting to bring a revolutionary washing machine onto the market this year. The machine works with plastic beads and using only three glasses of water per wash instead of the normal 35 litre. As an extra advantage, the wash comes out of the machine almost dry, so a dryer is no longer needed. Stephen Burkinshaw, a professor at the University of Leeds and expert in Textile Chemistry has developed the machine. If this machine was to completely replace all other machines, then millions of liters of water would be saved and in addition there would also be enormous reductions in energy usage. Approximately 20kg of these beads, made of a synthetic polymer, are combined with the wash and absorb the dirt. These beads can be used approximately 100 times and remove the dirt as effectively as any traditional washing product, even lipstick and coffee stains can be removed. The price of such a machine will be comparable with that of a normal washing machine. It all sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? Either way: the silo's and silo trucks of VSL SiloLogistics are ready for the storage and transfer of these "wonder beads"!
