Biggest hit on jobs in the transport sector this year.
The biggest hit on jobs in the transport sector is taking place this year, as opposed to most other sectors who will be hit next year. That's what the economists of the ING Economic Office have recently reported. The job losses in the transport sector aren't that bad, says the study. This and next year the job losses will grow to 20'000, a drop of approximately 5 percent. The bias lies, this year, at 3.8%. Next year in the commercial sector something in the order of 225'000 jobs will be lost. For the transport sector the coming year shall bring a "limited" loss in jobs of about 1.5 percent. That will happen, amongst other reasons, because in the last year thousands of vacancies were scrapped and the amount of hours worked per employee has dropped.
